Dance Performance and Dance Teaching Diploma or Musical Theatre Diploma Application Process

All students must pass the academy audition. Entry is by audition and interview with the principal. Auditions are held regularly throughout the year for enrolment in the following academic year.

Audition Dates for September 2017 Entry

  • 6th December 2016
  • 7th March 2017
  • 13th June 2017
  • 11th July 2017

On receipt of the application form all suitable candidates will be offered an audition date with a request to confirm that date.

We actively encourage overseas students who will be offered normal audition procedures. However, in the event of attendance difficulties, audition by video is allowed but must include supporting evidence of training and qualifications and two full length photographs in practice outfit.

Application Requirements

  • Medical assessment by MDDC resident doctor
  • GCSE in basic subjects, unless there are special circumstances acceptable to the Principal
  • Students hoping to study drama must have completed GCSE English Language or Literature
  • Candidates should normally be 16 years of age before September 1st of the enrolment year
  • A separate report from an orthopaedic consultant may be required
  • Candidates requiring entrance from other establishments must provide written approval from their tutor


BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts Application Process

BTEC Performing Arts Liverpool

Application Requirements

  • Medical assessment by MDDC resident doctor
  • GCSE A* to C in Maths and English are preferable
  • Candidates should normally be 16 years of age before September 1st of the enrolment year
  • A separate report from an orthopaedic consultant may be required
  • Candidates requiring entrance from other establishments must provide written approval from their tutor


Junior Associate Application Process

Acceptance on to the MDDCJunior Associate scheme will be by audition only. Prospective students will complete an audition class in Ballet and Jazz taken by members of the college faculty.

Audition Dates for Junior Associate

The audition dates for entry in September 2017 for the 2017/18 school year are:

  • 25th September 2016
  • 8th January 2017
  • 7th May 2017
  • 9th July 2017

Junior Associate Dance Application Form

Application Requirements

  • Applicants aged 11-14 must be Grade 2 Ballet or above
  • Applicants aged 15-18 must be Grade 4 Ballet or above
  • Written consent must be obtained by the applicant’s dance/drama teacher(s). As the MDDCJunior Associate scheme is designed to run in addition to a student’s own regular classes permission must be obtained for participation.


Pre-Audition Course

This one-week intensive course culminates in mock auditions after the week of training.

Junior’s Summer School Application

Four days of intensive dance, drama and musical theatre training for 10-18 year olds culminating in a Showcase on the fifth day. The Junior’s dance, drama and musical theatre summer school runs from TBA.

Part-time Dance Teacher Training

Have you have already achieved up to at least Intermediate level in your chosen dance genre and wish to train part-time for the ISTD DDI and DDE Qualifications?

ISTD Licentiate and Fellowship Training

Acceptance onto any Masterclass will be by interview with the Principal.
