Alison only graduated in 2012 but is already well on her way to a lengthy dance performance career.
I have been dancing ever since I was 4 years old and have loved it ever since. I began at The Susan Chippendale School of Dance in Lancashire, where I took the majority of ISTD and RAD exams and also took part in local festivals.
I studied A Levels at St. Marys 6th Form in Blackburn where I attained AAB in Dance, Drama and Sports and Physical education. After this I attended Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre for three years, in my third year I was pleased to take on the role of Head Girl. At MDDCDance I passed my ISTD teaching exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern and also my Gold in Drama and Musical Theatre.
My first professional job was during my third year where I worked for the Pantomime company Evolution performing Sleeping Beauty in Sheffield. After graduating from MDDCDance I auditioned for a number of cruise companies as I knew this was something I always wanted to do. I was offered a contract from Royal Caribbean but took a triple contract with Princess Cruises where I am currently loving every second on my second contract.
I thoroughly loved and treasure my time at MDDCDance and without the help and training from everyone at Merseyside I would not be where I am now. I still regularly write to college and even though I am no longer a student I still receive luck and guidance from them.
After finishing my contract with Princess I wish to audition for musicals back home before moving to teaching and sharing my training and experiences with other prosperous dancers.
Update – 2015
Alison has now be working for Princess for just over three years and is thoroughly enjoying her time on board. Over the past few years she has been sailing through South American and Canada and is now currently situated in Asia, where she is on board the Sapphire Princess serving as Assistant Company Performance Manager.
Her team have recently finished installing two brand new and exciting shows which have been developed and choreographed specifically for the new charter cruising through China and Japan. Along the way they have worked with the likes of Danny Teeson and Kerry Lovegrove. The chance to be involved in this new product has been an amazing opportunity to work closely with choreographers and broaden her knowledge of the more technical aspects of performing in a full scale production.
After her contract onboard the Sapphire she will be moving onto the Diamond Princess which will be sailing around Australia, Fiji and New Zealand.
On completion of her contracts with Princess cruises she will be making her first steps in the world of teaching, in which she hopes to fulfil a long career by passing on her passion and experiences that she has gained in hope that she will inspire young dancers like herself.
